GraphicDesign& launched a year ago whose launch event started in the Design Museum. Somehow I have managed to keep my head buried in the sand again as I completely missed their appearance. I am so excited to finally come across GraphicDesign&. For any of you have managed to miss them as well I have put together a bit about them from their website and press about them.

As someone who graduated in 2007 I have first hand experience of how difficult it has been to get into the design industry because of the struggling financial climate. As a result I think that the initiative Look Like Love is a fantastic idea. Kate Brewer and Eden Asfaha were exasperated by the the lack of support available to graduates, which motivated them into taking matters into their own hands and created Look Like Love.

Plenty of things have been happening in the last few weeks due to it being the 100th anniversary of the Titanic disaster. I came across these stamps that have been designed by Loewy Group consultancy Team Publishing. They caught my eye as they were designed for the Royal Mail not just for displaying the tragic moment when the Titanic sank, but to tell the story of the building, launching, and sailing of the Titanic.

We are currently working on a book cover design and internal layouts, and on researching examples of existing books that really do explore and visualise the books content I came across the article 'A Craft Of Consequences: Reader, Writer And Emotional Design' By Robin Rendle where he discusses this very topic. He sums up beautifully in his opening paragraph the importance of good design with relation to the physical book.
