Last year I wrote a post about the measures the Kenyan government is implementing in order to curb gender imbalance in the Engineering industry. Read more...It was in July 2007 when I came across an advert in the Daily Nation newspaper offering scholarships in engineering. They were for courses at craft and diploma level in the four National polytechnics in Kenya: Kenya Polytechnic, Mombasa Polytechnic, Kisumu Polytechnic and Eldoret Polytechnic.
When I was young, my dad kept telling me that he wanted me to be a Civil Engineer. I didn't know what that meant at the time but by the time I was in high school, I had developed a passion for it.
